Machita Eyre has 40 years of experience in the field of dance education. Growing up in Los Angeles, California provided her with the environment to study with many of the world’s leading dance masters. Machita was on scholarship for several years with the Ballet Petit Concert Ballet and toured throughout Europe studying with the Royal Hungarian Ballet Company. Machita was recognized by Teen Magazine as a young entrepreneur after opening a dance school at the age of sixteen. Machita later received a B. S. in Education from LSU and made Louisiana her home.

Machita is a member of the prestigious organization Dance Educators of America (membership is granted to dance teachers successfully passing an oral, written and performance dance Mastery examination). Machita has choreographed the Catholic High School Centennial Gala and served on the board of the Baton Rouge Cotillion. She is Dance Coordinator and Chairman of the Louisiana Senior Olympics. Machita has served as an adult mentor for the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge Youth Board.
Machita believes in strong community ties and volunteerism involving her students with the Baton Rouge Junior League, the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Foundation, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Her students have performed at several of the area Mardi Gras Balls such as Krewe of Cypress, Krewe de Roi and Krewe de Louisiane. She is on the board of Karnival Krewe de Louisiane and was Ball Captain this past Mardi Gras season.

Constantly taking advantage of special training offered at dance conventions and seminars, Machita continues her growth and development as both a dance educator and choreographer. She was recently honored with the “Outstanding Educator Award” at the Company Dance Convention in Biloxi, Mississippi.

A recipient of the coveted “Outstanding Choreography Award” from the nationally acclaimed Los Angeles Dance Force, Starpower and Dance Educators of America dance organizations, Miss Machita’s passion for teaching is carrying on into the next generation of dancers.
